Bucks County Community Guide

New Hope / Solebury

An arts destination on the Delaware paired with a countryside of stone homes, farms, wooded estates and singular architecture.

Creative energy

Culture in town. Calm beyond it.

New Hope has long attracted artists, performers, designers and independent thinkers. The Bucks County Playhouse anchors a lively riverfront district of galleries, restaurants, shops and historic buildings, giving the borough an energy uncommon for a town of its scale.

Solebury opens outward from that center into preserved hills, forests and farmland. Phillips’ Mill carries the region’s artistic tradition; Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve protects native plants and woodland; and the Delaware Canal ties together the landscape.

The housing is exceptionally diverse. In New Hope, historic brick and frame houses, compact townhomes, condominiums and architecturally adventurous residences place owners close to the borough’s energy. Solebury opens into brown and gray fieldstone farmhouses, converted barns, country estates, modern glass-and-timber homes and private compounds.

Farms and preserved farmland remain an essential part of the view. Equestrian properties, fenced pastures and old agricultural outbuildings sit alongside vineyards, woodland and designed gardens. This mixture of working landscape and creative architecture is a major reason the community feels unlike anywhere else in the region.

Worth knowing

New Hope / Solebury essentials.

Culture
Bucks County Playhouse

A storied riverfront theater that has drawn major performers since 1939.

Art
Phillips’ Mill

A center of the region’s visual-arts heritage and enduring creative community.

Nature
Bowman’s Hill

Native landscapes, river-valley views and one of Bucks County’s most distinctive natural settings.

The property lens

Historic fabric, septic capacity, conservation easements, flood exposure, renovation quality and municipal requirements can have an outsized impact. A borough townhouse, a converted barn and a multi-acre estate each demand a different valuation and due-diligence approach.
